Call to Help Typhoon Sendong Victims

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time for family and friends. But for thousands of Filipinos that live in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan in Mindanao, that will never happen this year after Typhoon Sendong (Washi) literally washed away everything they had and cherished.

Damage Left by Typhoon Sendong

Typhoons rarely pass through the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines, so when Typhoon Sendong hit these areas, the people were caught off guard and completely unprepared for the tragedy that was to unfold in the hours to come.

While I am writing this, the floods have not yet subsided in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. Nearly 1,000 people have died as a result of the floods brought by Typhoon Sendong, 49 are still missing, and more than 50,000 people have been left homeless and are now in evacuation centers set up.

Help the Victims of Typhoon Sendong

The main reason why I am writing this post is to humbly ask for your generous help on behalf of the victims of Typhoon Sendong. Any donation, in cash or in kind, can be made to the following organizations:

  4. Hi Ade! I’ve made my donation even for a small amount through the Red Cross text donation. A small donation, once taken all together, can be big enough to help these typhoon victims.

  8. Nice post. Thanks for sharing. I hope that preventative measures can be put in place soon. One thing that can be done which costs nothing is each individual take responsibility for their garbage and put it where it belongs instead of throwing it all over the streets, rivers, and everywhere else.

  9. Thank you all so much for your concern. It’s very heartwarming that we Filipinos are all united for one cause and that so many generous hearts take interest in helping the typhoon victims. God bless you all. I wish there were some way to repay you for your generosity.

  10. Every cost you give worth everything to the people affected by the typhoon Sendong. Help them to recover everything especially how to start over their lives with nothing. With some help from each one of us makes a change.
