Growing up, Pito & Mita Mediterranean restaurant owner Pia Kasilag had fond memories of watching her mom in the kitchen cooking Mediterranean recipes passed down by her grandmother. Today, she shares these dishes with others in one of the upcoming Mediterranean restaurants in the southern part of Manila.
Behind the Name of Pito & Mita Mediterranean Restaurant
Pito & Mita is short for Papito and Mamita, which is what her children and the children of her siblings would call their parents as a form of endearment. She envisioned to put up a Mediterranean restaurant in honor of her parents. At the same time, this Mediterranean restaurant is to be a place where families and friends can come to enjoy great Mediterranean food, a cozy atmosphere, and a lively conversation.
This desire to honor her parents is what inspired her to decorate this Mediterranean restaurant to resemble a cozy dining area you’d find in a friend’s home. She wanted to exude the same atmosphere that her friends enjoyed whenever they’d come over to her house after school and enjoy the delicious Mediterranean food of her mother. The moment that you come in here, it’s not like your stepping inside a fancy Mediterranean restaurant. Rather, it’s like you’re going inside someone’s home.
Delightful Recipes from the Mediterranean
When it opened, the restuarant menu at Pito & Mita Mediterranean Restaurant comprised of different Mediterranean food. All of the recipes used in this Mediterranean restaurant were handed down in their family from mother to daughter for generations. Just like in their home, each dish served in this Mediterranean restaurant are made entirely from scratch, using only the highest quality ingredients available.
One of the bestsellers of Pito & Mita Mediterranean restaurant (and an absolute favorite of mine) is their Spinach and Artichoke Dip Served with crunchy melba toast, this delicious and healthy appetizer is filled with so much flavor that a little goes a long way.
The Eggplant Parmigiana served here is a definite must if you love cheese, or if you’re trying to convert a meat-lover to enjoy vegetarian dishes. This delightfully filling meal is made of layer upon layer of meaty eggplant, rich tomato sauce, and creamy cheese. The sharpness of the parmesan balances out the richness of the mozzarella quite well. The eggplant is perfectly cooked that it tastes and even feels like ground meat on the tongue and palate. It’s a very hearty dish that one serving can be shared by two people and both would still feel full and satisfied.
If you love seafood or looking for something on the lighter side, I’d highly recommend their Parmesan Crusted Fish with a siding of Potato au Gratin. The light coating of parmesan adds the right touch of saltiness, rounding up the entire dish. At the same time, it helped keep the fish succulent and juicy throughout the cooking process.
And, of course, let’s not forget desert! I’m a sucker for sweet stuff and the Frozen Brazo served in Pito & Mita Mediterranean restaurant was a light and sweet way to end such a wonderful feast. This is a twist to the traditional Brazo de Mercedes rolls that you’d find in most bakeshops. Light, fluffy and sweet, it went really well with a steaming cup of brewed coffee.

Hi Stu,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I’m glad that you enjoyed the pictures. Yes, their portions are rather large and plentiful. Pia, the owner, told me that it’s because of their characteristic of always seeing meal time as a time to be shared with the entire family or with good friends.
Ambiance is like usual Mediterranean house so you’ll feel at home when you dine here. Tastes linger in your palate wish it be there long enough. I personally love the parmesan-crusted baked fish. Haven’t tried the spinach artichoke yet but will definitely have it next time i dine here.
I’ve been hearing so many good reviews about this place, but i’ve never actually seen it. Where exactly along Aguirre is it? Past PCJ Church?
Hi Jess, if you’re familiar with NLo’s along Aguirre Avenue, Pito & Mita is just right across it.
Let me know if you need more landmarks to help you find it.
It looks like that these is another wonderful place to visit and eat great foods. Thanks for sharing great ideas regarding the restaurant.
